Q1. Who is the intended audience for the PharmGenEd™ program?

The PharmGenEd™ program is designed for healthcare professionals and students.


Q2. Must I register on the website in order to view the materials?

No, you can view the lecture videos and handouts without registering. However, by registering, you will be notified of any significant updates and announcements of the program. Qualified trainers must register on the website, agree to the End-User Licensing Agreement, and complete the request process before accessing educational materials.


Q3. Can I obtain Continuing Education credit for the PharmGenEd™ educational program?

We do not currently offer web-based continuing pharmacy and medical education (CPE/CME) credits.


Q4. How can I become a trainer in the PharmGenEd™ program?

Health Professional School Faculty who are interested in becoming trainers and disseminating pharmacogenomics educational materials in their schools must register on the website, agree to the End-User Licensing Agreement, and complete the request process before accessing educational materials.


Q5. How do I get access to the PharmGenEd™ educational materials?

Faculty at health professional schools need to:

  1. Register on the PharmGenEd™ website (if you have not already done so) and agree to the End-User Licensing Agreement
  2. Agree to disseminate educational materials by giving appropriate acknowledgement to the PharmGenEd™ team and authors of each module
  3. E-mail PharmGenEd™ staff(pharmacogenomics@ucsd.edu) the following information to verify your position and the purpose for your request:
    1. Your name
    2. Your faculty position title
    3. Your academic institution
    4. Your institution's web-link to your profile
    5. The title of each individual module you are interested in
    6. The syllabus for the course in which you will use our materials

Upon approval by the PharmGenEd team, you will receive a confirmation email regarding access.


Q6. Once I receive access to the PharmGenEd™ materials, can I share the electronic files, materials, and/or my Web access codes with others?

No; if others wish to use the PharmGenEd™ materials, please advise them to visit our website. The End-User Licensing Agreement permits you to reproduce, distribute, perform publicly and display publicly the PharmGenEd™ materials for non-commercial, not-for-profit educational use only. Specific information about the use of the PharmGenEd™ materials is detailed in the End-User Licensing Agreement.


Q7. Who owns the PharmGenEd™ materials?

The copyright for all educational materials is owned by The Regents of the University of California.


Q8. Who funds the PharmGenEd™ program?

This program was started with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC, Grant Number IU38GD000070) between 2008 and 2012. Since then, the program has been supported by the Program Director, Grace M. Kuo, PharmD, MPH, PhD at the University of California San Diego, Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The program contents are solely the responsibility of the authors and do not necessarily represent the official views of CDC. The content is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Patients should seek the advice of their physicians, pharmacists, or other qualified health providers with any questions they may have regarding a medication or a medical condition.


Q9. How do I indicate acknowledgement to using PharmGenEd materials?

You are responsible for assuring that proper acknowledgement is given to the PharmGenEd program and module author(s) when using any PharmGenEd materials. Use this statement to acknowledge: “This material is based upon work developed by the PharmGenEd team at UC San Diego and the author(s) [include name(s)]”.
